Located in Arlington Heights, Illinois, the Automotive Technology Program at John Hersey High School is proving that even the worst car can be race ready by participating in the 24 Hours of Lemons race series. You heard that right, not 24 Hours of Le Mans. At 24 Hours of Lemons the worst cars you can find are the only cars you can race.
Just A Car From Akron: East CLC Rehabs Monte Carlo
A lot of great things come out of Akron, Ohio. For one, you’ve probably heard of the city because it’s the hometown of basketball star LeBron James. But, Akron has a lot more to offer, especially in the automotive world.
Akron was, at one point, considered the rubber capital of the world. In the 1950s, Ohio housed some 130 tire companies, with five of the largest tire companies in the U.S. located in Akron (Akron is called “Rubber City” for a reason).
Joe Mendola: The 2019 B’laster Instructor of the Year
Joe Mendola is a car guy through and through. Mention a town near Tampa, Florida, and Joe has probably restored a car parked in a nearby driveway. He’ll describe the car in vivid detail down to what’s under the hood, and even remember where he bought the parts.
As the automotive instructor at Gaither High School, Mendola has passed on that enthusiasm and passion for automotive repair onto his students.
